Median = 4 th observation = 5

Now First Quartile is the mid value of the observations to the left of median

The observations to the left of median 1 , 3 , 4

So First Quartile = 3

Again Third Quartile is the mid value of the observations to the right of median

The observations to the right of median 6 , 6 , 10

So Third Quartile = 6

Quartile deviation

$\displaystyle\sf{ = \frac{Third \: Quartile - First \: Quartile}{2} }$

$\displaystyle\sf{ = \frac{6 - 3}{2} }$

$\displaystyle\sf{ = \frac{3}{2} }$
