GIVEN:

  • 8x - 2y = 6 --------------- ( 1 )
  • 9x + y = 10 --------------- ( 2 )

TO FIND:

  • x = ?
  • y = ?

SOLUTION:

Taking equation 1 & dividing both sides with 2

→ (8x - 2y)/2 = 6/2

→ 4x - y = 3 ------------ ( 3 )

Adding Equation (3) + (2)

9x + y = 10

4x - y = 3

+ - +

13x = 13

→ x = 13/13

→ x = 1

Substituting value of x in equation 3

→ 4(1) - y = 3

→ 4 - 3 = y

→ y = 1

y = 1

Hence , x = 1 & y = 1

\bigstar Solution :

\bigstar Given Equations :

  • 8 x - 2 y = 6
  • 9 x + y = 10

\bigstar To Find :

\star To solve these equations by using Elimination method

\bigstar Answer :

\star 9 x + y = 10

=> y = 10 - 9 x ... (1)

\star 8 x - 2 y = 6

\star Now sub. (1) in this eq. , we get ,

=> 8 x - 2 ( 10 - 9 x ) = 6

=> 8 x - 20 + 18 x = 6

=> 26 x = 26

=> x = 1

\star Now , sub. x=1 , in (1) , we get ,

=> y = 10 - 9 (1)

=> y = 10 - 9

=> y = 1

\bigstar About Elimination Method  :

  • In the elimination method you either add or subtract the equations to get an equation in one variable.
  • When the coefficients of one variable are opposites you add the equations to eliminate a variable and when the coefficients of one variable are equal you subtract the equations to eliminate a variable.
