Answer:

3 (8x+5y=11)

8 (3x-4y=10)

24x+15y=33

24x-32y=80

subtracting , we get

47y=-47

y=-47/47=-1

putting the value of y in 1st equation

8x+5 (-1)=11

8x-5=11

8x=11+5

x=16/8=2

x=2

y=-1 Answer

Given :-

» 8x + 5y = 11 -------(i)

» 3x - 4y = 10 -------(ii)

We can solve these type of equations with many methods.

Here, I'm using substitution method for this.

From equation (i), we get

➡ 8x = 11 - 5y

➡ x = (11 - 5y)/8

Putting value of x = (11 - 5y)/8 in equation (ii)

➡ 3(11 - 5y)/8 - 4y = 10

➡ (33 - 15y)/8 - 4y = 10

➡ (33 - 15y)/8 - 32y/8 = 10

➡ 33 - 15y - 32y = 10 × 8

➡ 33 - 47y = 80

➡ -47y = 80 - 33

➡ -47y = 47

➡ y = 47/-47

➡ y = -1

Now, putting value of y = -1 in equation (i)

➡ 8x + 5(-1) = 11

➡ 8x - 5 = 11

➡ 8x = 11 + 5

➡ x = 16/8

➡ x = 2

Hence, the value of x = 2 and y = -1
