9. A rectangular loop of sides 10 cm x 3 cm with a small
cut is moving out of a uniform magnetic field of 0.5 T
directed normal to the loop. Compute the voltage
induced across the cut, if the velocity of the loop is
1 cm s
in a direction (i) normal to the longer side,
(ii) normal to the shorter side of the loop. For how
long does the induced voltage last in each case?
Ans. (i) 0.5 mV, 3 s; (ii) 0.15 mV, 10 s.
