building trade. He wanted to live in leisure with
mily: He would miss the money, but he needed
spend time with his people. His employer was sad
know that his best worker wanted to go. He asked
she carpenter if he would build one last house as a
personal favour. The carpenter agreed; however, his heart
was not in his work. So, he used inferior material and
resorted to shoddy workmanship in order to finish the
house as quickly as possible. It was an unfortunate way
to end a glorious career. When the house was done,
his employer came to the carpenter with a bunch of
keys - they were the keys to the new house. "This is
your house, a parting gift from me to you, for years
of excellent service," said his employer.
The carpenter was shocked! If only he had known
the house was for him, he would have used the best
material and would have built it with much more care.
Now he had to live in a poorly built house - and he
could not even complain about it!
So it is with life. We build our own lives by putting
in one brick, one board, one nail in it every day. If we
put in our best, our house will be excellent; but if not
then we will have to contend with a poorly built house
all our lives.) Someone has rightly said : Your attitude
and the choices you make today help build the house'
you will live in tomorrow. Therefore, build wisely.
