Question

9. Mr Arun earns rs.9500 per month and his wife earns rs.8000. Find the ratio of,

(a) Mr Arun's income to his wife's income.

(b) wife's income to total income.

ANSWER :

Income of Mr Arun per month = Rs.9500

Income of Mr Arun's wife per month = Rs.8000

Total income of Mr Arun and his wife = Rs.9500 + Rs.8000

                                                        = Rs.17500

Now,

To be found :-

(a) Mr Arun's income to his wife's income.

(b) wife's income to total income.

So,

(a) Ratio of Mr Arun's income to his wife's income

=  \frac{9500}{8000}

=  \frac{19}{16}

= 19:16

(b) Ratio of wife's income to total income

=  \frac{8000}{17500}

=  \frac{16}{35}

= 16:35

Hence,

Ratio of Mr Arun's income to his wife's income is 19:16

and

Ratio of wife's income to total income is 16:35
