The mean and median of a distribution are 14 and 15. The value of mode will be 17 because of following:

- According to the definition of Mode. Mode is defined as the value present in data set that appears most often.

- The relation of Mode with respect to the Mean and Median is given as:

Mode is equal to 3 multiply into value of Median subtracted by 2 multiplied into Mean i.e. Mode = 3 Median - 2 Mean .

- Here value of mean is 14 and value of median is 15 .So , by putting the values in the above formula we have

Mode = 3(15) - 2(14)

= 45 - 28 = 17

So , The correct option is (B)

Option (A) 16

EXPLANATION:

To find: The  value of mode of distribution.

  • The mean (average) is the found by adding all of the numbers together and dividing by the number of items in the set.for example, the item are 10,20,30;
  • \text{Mean} =  [\frac{10 +20 + 30}{3} ] = 20
  • Then the mean is 20.
  • The median is found by ordering the set from lowest to highest and finding the exact middle.
  • The mode is the number that occurred most often.
  • The given data is 14 and 15 are the mean and median  of a distribution.
  • So the given set will be like;12,14,16,16.
  • Then the median is 15 and the mean is 14.and the mode is 16.
