SOLUTION

TO CHOOSE THE CORRECT OPTION

What is the point of intersection of a line parallel to the X-axis at a distance of 4 units above it with the Y-axis

(A) (4, 0)

(B) (0, 4)

(C) (  - 4, 0)

(D) (0, - 4)

EVALUATION

We know that the equation of x axis is y = 0

So the equation of the line parallel to the X-axis is y = c

Since the line is at a distance of 4 units above it

So c = 4

So the equation of the line becomes y = 4

Now it cuts y axis

So x = 0

So abscissa of the required point = 0

And the ordinate of any point on y = 4 is 4

So ordinate of the required point = 4

So the required point of intersection is (0,4)

FINAL ANSWER

Hence the correct option is (B) (0, 4)
