  • Bengali author and activist Mahasweta Devi was born in India on January 14, 1926, and she passed away on July 28, 2016. Hajar Churashir Maa, Rudali, and Aranyer Adhikar are some of her best-known literary works. She advocated for the rights and empowerment of the indigenous people (Lodha and Shabar) in the Indian states of West Bengal, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh. She received numerous literary honours, including the Padma Shri and Padma Vibhushan, India's civilian awards, the Sahitya Akademi Award (in Bengali), the Jnanpith Award, and the Ramon Magsaysay Award.
  • Eden Montessori School in Dhaka was Devi's first place of instruction (1930). She subsequently relocated to West Bengal (now in India). Her next academic setting was Midnapore Mission Girls High School (1935). She was subsequently admitted to Santiniketan (1936 to 1938). She continued her education at Beltala Girls' School from 1939 to 1941, where she earned her matriculation. She then developed I.A. in 1944. by way of Asutosh College. She earned a B.A. from Visva-Bharati University, which was established by Rabindranath Tagore. (Hons) in English before completing a master's degree. at the University of Calcutta in English.
  • Devi authored more than 100 books and more than 20 collections of short stories, mostly in Bengali but frequently translated into other languages.
