9/X - 4/Y = 8......(1)

13/X +7/Y =101.....(2)

Let 1/X = U and 1/Y = V then the equation (1) and (2) becomes,

9U - 4V = 8......(3)

13U +7V = 101......(4)

From equation (3) we get,

9U - 4V = 8

9U = 8+4V

U = 8+4V/9......(5)

Putting the value of U in equation (4)

13U + 7V = 101

13 × (8+4V/9) + 7V = 101

104 + 52V/9 + 7V = 101

104 +52V + 63V/9 = 101

115V +104 = 101×9=> 909

115V = 909-104

115V = 805

V = 805/115 => 7

Putting the value of V in equation (5)

U = 8+4V/9 => 8+4×7/9 = 8+28/9 = 72+28/9 = 100/9

Therefore,

1/X = U

1/X = 100/9

100X = 9

X = 9/100

And,

1/Y= V

1/Y= 7

7Y = 1

Y = 1/7
