90 men are engaged to do piece of work in 40 days but it is found that in 25 days, 2/3 work so completed. How many men should be allowed to go off so that the work may be finished in time?

work to be done in remaining 15 days = 1/3

In 1 day work done by 90 men = 2/(3×25)
In 1 day work done by 1 man = 2/( 3×25×90)
In 1 day work done by y men = 2y/(3×25×90) ........1
In remaining 15 days, work to be done = 1/3
In order to complete work, in 1 day work to be done = 1/(3×15) ..........2

so men required to complete work = 75
