Kinetic energy it is a type of energy while mechanical is a form of energy takes. For instance , a bow that has been drawn and a bow i.e. launching an arrow are both egs of mechanical energy. The drawn bow is an eg of k.energy, becuase the energy necessary to launch the arrow is only being stored in the bow, while the bow in motion is an eg of kinetic energy, becuase it is doing work.
