or, 9y - 9y + 5 = 15y - 9y - 1

or, 0 + 5 = 6y - 1

or, 5 = 6y - 1

add 1 to both sides so you remove the constant term on the right hand side.

or, 5 + 1 = 6y - 1 + 1

or, 6 = 6y

or, 6/6 = 6y/6 = (6/6)y

or, 1 = 1y

or, y = 1

hence, value of y = 1
