9y² - 12y + 2 = 0
(3y)² - 2(3y)(2) + 2² - 2² + 2 = 0
(3y - 2)² - 4 + 2 = 0
(3y - 2)² = 2
(3y - 2) = \frac{+}{}√2
taking (+ve)
3y = √2 + 2
y = (√2 + 2)/3

taking (-ve)
3y = -√2 + 2
y = (2 - √2)/2

Given Quadratic equation is

9y² -12y +2 = 0

=> 9y² - 12y = -2

=> ( 3y )² - 2 × 3y × 2 = -2

=> (3y)² -2(3y)(2) + 2² = -2 + 2²

=> ( 3y - 2 )² = -2 + 4

=> ( 3y - 2 )² = 2

=> 3y - 2 = ± √2

=> 3y = 2 ± 2

=> y = ( 2 ± √2 )/3

Therefore ,

y = ( 2 + √2 )/3

Or

y = ( 2 - √2 )/3
