A 100-kg block is lifted vertically at constant velocity with a crane that applies 3500 Joules of work. If 90% of that work is effectively used to lift the block, what is the change in height of the object?

90% of the work used is obtained as follows :

Work used is :

90/100 × 3500 joules = 3150 Joules

Work = Force × Distance

Force = mg

Force = 100 × 10 = 1000 N

Distance = Work / Force

= 3150/1000 = 3.15 M

= 3.15 Meters
