Given,

A 100cm long string fixed at its two ends is plucked from the middle.

To find,

The wavelength of stationary generated waves.

we know,

a string is fixed at its two ends which is plucked from the middle, an antinode is formed at its centre and nodes are formed at its two ends, as shown in figure.

so, length of string = wavelength of stationary waves/2

⇒100cm = wavelength of stationary waves/2

⇒wavelength of stationary waves = 100 × 2 = 200cm

Therefore wavelength of stationary waves is 200cm.

Wavelength of stationary waves generated = 200 cm

Explanation:

Given: A string is fixed at its two ends which is plucked from the middle.

Find: Wavelength of stationary waves generated

Solution:

When a string is fixed at both ends and plucked at the middle, we know that a stationary wave will be formed such that the antinode is at the center and its nodes are formed at the ends.

Length of string = wavelength of stationary waves / 2

100 = wavelength / 2

Therefore wavelength = 100 * 2 = 200 cm
