Answer:-

If a 12 ohm resistor is cut into three equal parts, all the 3 parts would be of equal resistance that is 4 ohm.

Now, if all the 3 resistors of 4 ohm each is connected in parallel,

Hence, 1/Rp = 1/R1 + 1/R2 + ....

So, 1/Rp = 1/4 + 1/4 + 1/4

Solving, 1/Rp = 3/4

Hence, R(p) = 4/3 ohm

Resistance is the opposition of electric current. It is measured in ohm. It can be measured eith the help of voltmeter which is always connected in parallel to the resistors. The resistors help in maintaining resistance of the circuit.

There are two ways in which resistors can be connected. One is series and the other is parallel. In a series circuit, the net resistance can be obtained by adding the resistance per resistor. In a parallel circuit, the net resistance can be obtained by adding the reciprocal of the resistance per resistor.
