Hello

(a+2)^2+4(a+2)-7y=0 and a^2+4a-7y=0 then y is equal to

a^2 + 4a + 4 + 4a + 8 - 7y = 0

a^2 + 4a - 7y + 4a + 8 + 4 = 0

\________/ + 4a + 12 = 0

0 + 4a + 12 = 0

4a = -12

a = -12/4

a = -3

a^2 + 4a - 7y = 0

(-3)^2 + 4 * (-3) - 7y = 0

9 - 12 - 7y = 0

7y = -3

y = -3/7
