a 2.4 cm tall object is placed perpendicular to the principal axis of a convex lens of focal length 18 cm the distance of the object from the lens is 12 cm find the position size nature of the image formed using lens formula

h = 2.4 cm

f = 18 cm

u = -12 cm

According to lens formula ,

1/f = 1/v - 1/u

1/18 = 1/v - (- 1/ 12)

1/18 = 1/v + 1/12

1/v = 1/18 - 1/12

1/v = 2 - 3 /36

1/v = - 1 / 36

v = -36

m = v / u

= - 36 / - 12

= 3

Therefore , position of image = - 36 cm

Image is Virtual and Erect .

Size of image is magnified .
