Given = A vertical stick 20m long with a shadow  of 10m long on the ground and a tower cast shadow of 50m long on the ground.

Find = height of the tower

Solution =

When shadows are cast by sun which is very far (infinitely), they are parallel and triangles formed by shadow and vertical object are similar.

The height of vertical stick and its shadow will be proportional to the tower, whose height is   h and its shadow.

Hence,

h/50 = 20/10

h        = 2 *50

h        = 100m

Therefore the height of the tower is 100m.

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

pole shadow length = 20m

tree height = 5m

tree shadow length = 20m

pole height = x

x/20m = 6m/8m

x = 6m x 20m/8m

x = 120m/8m

x = 15m

hence, pole height = 15m

Hope it helps!!
