\underline{\bold{Given:-}}

Length of train = 260 metres

Length of platform = 290 meters

\underline{\bold{Solution:-}}

Distance to be covered by a train to cross the platform = Length of train + length of platform

= 260 + 290

= 550 metres

The distance is given in metre and speed is given in kmph.

So, speed should be changed in terms of mps.

Speed of train = 55 kmph

 = 55 \times \frac{1000}{3600} \\ \\ = 55 \times \frac{5}{18} \: \: mps \\

Time taken to cross the platform
 = \frac{Distance \: to \: be \: covered}{Speed} \\ \\ = \frac{550}{55 \times \frac{5}{18} } \\ \\ = \frac{10}{ \frac{5}{18} } \\ \\ = \frac{10 \times 18}{5} \\ \\ = 2 \times 18 \\ \\ = 36 \: seconds

So, the train will take at 36 seconds to cross the platform 290 metre long.
