object distance(u)= -40cm

focal length=+15cm(convex lens)

by lens formula:_

1/v-1/u=1/f

1/v-1/-40=1/15

1/v=1/15+1/-401/v=8-3/120

1/v=5/120

therefore v=24cm

size=v/u=h2/h1

24/-40=h2/2

= -1.2cm

the image is virtual and erect !
