A 3000 kg rocket is fired if the exhaust speed is 500 m/s how much gas must be ejected per second to supply the thrust needed

This question will be solved by Law of conservation of momentum.

The minimum velocity can be gained by rocket is 1 m/s. So

3000kg×1m/s=x kg×500m/s

x = 6kg.

Hence 6kg of gas must be burned per second.
