A 300m long train is moving with uniform velocity of 90km/h. Find the time taken by the train to cross another train of length 700m moving with same speed in opposite direction.

distance d= 300m +700m = 1000m

velocity v1=v2=90km/hr

= 90*1000m/3600s

= 25m/s

time taken by the train to cross another train of length 700m is

t= d/(v1-v2)   [where v1 is velocity of train 1 & v2 is velocity of train 2]

t= 1000m/(25-(-25))   [v2= -25 since it moves in opposite direction]

t= 1000m/ 50s

t= 20s
