Given

Focal length of the convex mirror f = -10 cm (according to sign convention)

Height of the object h₀ = 4 cm

Height of the image h₁ = 2 cm

From magnification we have,

m = (-v/u) = (h₁/h₀)

-v = (1/2) u or we can say

u = -2 v   -------(A)

Again from mirror equation we have,

(1/v)+(1/u) = (1/f)

Reducing (A) in the above equation we get,

(1/v) - (1/2v) = (-1/10)

v = -5 cm

Putting the above value in equation A we get,

u = -2 v = 10 cm
