Given:

Number of poles = 4

Number of conductors wounded= 792

The flux per pole = 0.0121 WB

To find:

The speed at which it is should be run to generate 240V on no-load

Solution:

Energy = \frac{P \phi V Z }{ \omega a}

where P = number of poles

∅ = Flux per pole

V= speed of the generator

Z = Number of conductors

ω = 60

a =2

Substituting the values,

240 = 4 X 0.0121 X V X 792 / 60 X 2

or V = 240 X 120 / 4 X 0.0121 X 792

= 751.3 rpm

Hence, the required speed is 751.3 rpm.
