Amount, A = Rs. 40000
Principal, P = Rs. 35000
Rate of Interest, R = 5 ℅ p.a.
Time, T = ?

Simple Interest, SI = PRT / 100
SI = ( 35000 * 5 * T ) / 100
SI = 1750T

Amount = P + SI
40000 = 35000 + 1750T
1750T = 40000 - 35000
1750T = 5000
T = 5000 / 1750
T = 500 / 175
T = 100 / 35 = 20 / 7
T = 2 \frac{6}{7} years

Therefore,

Time = T = 2 \frac{6}{7} years

Hence,

In 2 \frac{6}{7} years, Rs. 35000 will amount to Rs. 40000 at the rate of 5% p.a.
