just before touching the ground all the potential energy from the height 10m will be changed into kinetic energy as total energy remains constant
therefore,
potential energy in the above case= kinetic energy before touching the ground
kinetic energy=mass×accelaration due to gravity×height
kinetic energy=40×9.8×10=400×9.8
=3920joules
