A 4cm cube is cut into 1cm cubes. calculate the total surface area of all the small cubes.

{\huge{\underline{\underline{\sf{\blue{Solution:-}}}}}}

Side of each small cube = 1 cm

Surface  \: area \:  of  \: each  \: small \:  cube  \:  = 6a ^{2}

 = 6 \times  {1}^{2} \:  cm ^{2}  = 6 {cm}^{2}

 =  \frac{ \:  Volume  \: of  \: the \:  bigger \:  cube }{ \:Volume  \: of  \: the \:  smaller \:  cube  }

 =  \frac{4 \times 4 \times 4}{1 \times 1 \times 1}  =  \frac{64}{1}  = 64

Therefore,

Total \:  surface \:  area  \: of  \: 64 \:  small  \: cubes \:  = \:  ( 64 × 6 ) cm^{2}  = 384 \: cm ^{2}
