volume of 4 cm cube = a³ = 4³ = 64
volume of 1 cm cube = a³ = 1³ = 1
therefore,
we can cut 64     1 cm cube from the 4 cm cube.
total surface area of 4 cm cube =  6a²
                                                      = 6×16
                                                      =96
total surface are of 64   1cm cube = 64 ×6a²
                                                          = 64 ×6
                                                          = 384

surface area increases from 96 to 384 when we cut a 4 cm cube into 1 cm cube.
surface area increases 4 times = 400%
