Given:

Mass of the bullet = 5 gm

Final speed of bullet = 120 m/s

Barrel length of the gun = 2 m

To find:

Average force exerted on the bullet.

Solution:

We know that: v²=u² + 2as

Where v is the final velocity, u is the initial velocity, a is th acceleration and s is the distance covered.

Putting the values:

120² = 0 + 2*a*2

14400 = 4a

a = 3600 m/s²

We know that force= mass* acceleration

⇒F = (5*3600) / 1000

F = 18 N

Therefore the average force exerted on the bullet is 18 N.
