If the height of the pole is 10.5 m, then the length of the shadow is 6 m.

(ii) The height of the pole which casts a shadow of 5 m long.

x₁ / y₁ = x₂ / y₂

5.6 / 3.2 = x₂ / 5

3.2 x₂ = 5 × 5.6

x₂ = (5 × 5.6) / 3.2
