Given :

Mass of ball = 500g = 0.5kg

Initial velocity = zero

Applied force = 250N

Time of contact = 0.020s

To Find :

Final velocity of flow.

Solution :

■ As per newton's second law of motion force is measured as the rate of change of linear momentum.

  • F = dp/dt = m(v - u) / t

F denotes force

m denotes mass

v denotes final velocity

u denotes initial velocity

t denotes time

  • Force is a polar vector quantity having both magnitude as well as direction.
  • SI unit : N
  • Force has a point of application.

By substituting the values;

⇒ F = m (v - u) / t

⇒ 250 = 0.5 (v - 0) / 0.02

⇒ 0.5v = 250 × 0.02

⇒ 0.5v = 5

⇒ v = 5/0.5

v = 10 m/s
