10x+11x=588
21x=588
x=588/21
x=28
length of first peice =28*10
=280m
length of second peice=28*11
=308m

one piece = 588 / 21 * 10 = 280 meters

2nd piece = 588 - 280 = 308 meters

or 588 / 21 * 11 = 308 meters
