A 5kg mass on a horizontal platform accelerated at the rate of 0.1m/s^2 when a horizontal force of 10N is applied to it. Calculate the coefficient of friction between it and the platform. [g=10mls^2]

frictional force= mu × N

we have to find mu ,where N is normal (= m×a)

10=mu× 0.1×5

mu=20

Explanation:

mu( coefficient of friction)= f/mg

= ma/mg

=5×0.1/ 5×10

=0.5/50

=0.01
