Mass of Engine= 8000kg

No. of wagons=5

Mass of each wagon=2000kg

Force exerted by engine= 40000N

Friction Force=5000N

Acceleration= Force exerted by engine- Friction Force

= 40000-5000

=35000N

Answer:

total mass of train with wagons= 8000kg+ 5×2000kg

= 8000+10000kg

=18000kg

total force (F)= 40000N+ 5000N

=45000N

Newton's law says,

F=ma

45000= 18000 ×a

45000/18000 =a

Ans: a=2.5 m/s^2
