To solve : \frac{5}{7}  + \frac{9}{11}

Solution :

  • To add the given rational numbers we need equalize denominators of both the rational numbers .
  • To equalize we take LCM of the denominators 7 \ and \ 11.
  • LCM = 77
  • Now, multiplying numerators of the numbers by the numbers as multiplied by denominators to make LCM.
  •     \frac{5}{7}  + \frac{9}{11}  = \frac{5\times 11}{77} + \frac{9\times 7}{77}

                        = \frac{55}{77} +\frac{63}{77}

  • As both the denominators are same we can take denominator 77 as common for both the numerators and add them .

                \frac{55 + 63}{77}  = \frac{118}{77}

  • On dividing we get ,

                          = 1.532

     Hence addition of given rational numbers is \frac{118}{77} or 1.532

Given: The equation\frac{5}{7} +\frac{9}{11}.

We have to solve this equation\frac{5}{7} +\frac{9}{11}.

For this, we have to cross multiply the given fraction and then add the values of the numerator and then simplify the equation.

We are solving in the following way:

We have the equation\frac{5}{7} +\frac{9}{11}.

Now,

=>\frac{5}{7} +\frac{9}{11}

=>\frac{5}{7}+\frac{9}{11}  \\\\=>\frac{5\times11+9\times7}{11\times7} \\\\=>\frac{55+63}{77} \\\\=>\frac{118}{77}\\\\=>1.53

We get,1.53

Hence, the solution of the given equation will be1.53.
