a) an atom has 4 protons and 5 neutrons. what is its valency ? b) an ion M3+ has 10 electrons and 14 neutrons. find the atomic number and mass number of M.

as the atom has 4 protons then the electrons will also be 4
as protons = electrons.
its electronic config. will be - 2,2
so valency is 2.

b). electrons=10
then atomic no. is also 10

mass no. = proton + neutron
so mass no. = 14 + 10 ....,..... as protons are equal to electrons

so mass no. = 24
