Let x be the age of A and y be the age of B

Hence x/y = 4/5. ………….. (1)

After 5 years (x+5)/(y+5) = 5/6

Or 6x + 30 = 5y + 25 ……….. (2)

From (1), we have x = ( 4/5)*y . Putting this in (2), we have

6* (4/5)y + 30 = 5 y + 25

(24/5)y - 5y = -5

(24y - 25y)/5 = -5

-y = -25

y = 25 , x = 4/5y = (4/5)*25 = 20

Therefore x = 20 and y = 25 . That means the present age of A is 20 and B is 25
