A and B are two points 150 km apart on a highway. Two cars start with different speeds from A
and B at the same time. If they move in the same direction, they meet in 15 hours but if they move
in opposite direction, they meet in one hour. Find their speeds.​

Let the speed of car at point A be = x km/hr

And that of car at point B be = y km/hr

If both the cars move in same direction then they will meet in 15 hours, this can be written as,

distance = speed x time

15x - 15y = 150

⇒ x - y = 10......................(1)

and if both move in same direction then they will meet after 1 hour, this can be written as,

x + y = 150......................(2)

Solving (1) and (2), we get,

x - y = 10

x + y = 150

⇒ 2x = 160

⇒ x = 80 km/hr

Substituting x = 80 km/hr in (1), we get,

y = 70 km/hr

Hence, the speed of car at point A was 80 km/hr and That of car at B was 70 km/hr.
