A takes 16 days to complete.
B takes 12 days to complete.
since 1 day work = 1/total days.
A's 1 day work = 1/16
So A's 2 day work = 1/16 × 2 = 1/8
remaining work= 1 - 1/8 = 7/8
B's 1 day work = 1/12
now A and B work in 1 day = 1/16 + 1/12
= (3 + 4)/48 (since LCM of 16 and 12 is 48)
=7/48
time taken to complete the remaining work = remaining work ÷ 1 day work
= 7/8 ÷ 7/48
=7/8 × 48/7
=6 days
