Given:

A and B together can do a piece of work in 12 days.If A alone can do the work in 20 days,

To Find:

How much time would B take to do the work alone?

Solution:

A + B's can do work in 12 days.

A + B's 1 day work = 1/12 days

  • A alone can do work in 1 day = 1/20
  • B alone can do work in 1 day = 1/B

➠ 1/29 + 1/B = 1/12

➠ 1/B = 1/12 - 1/29

➠ 1/B = 5/60 - 3/60

➠ 1/B = 2/60

➠ 1/B = 1/30

➠ B = 30 Days

Hence, B alone can do the work in 30 days.
