A and B together finish in 12 days

So work done by both of them in one day = 1/12

B alone can complete a work in 30 days ,

So work done by B alone in one day = 1/30

Hence, work done by A = 1/12 - 1/30

                                        =(5-2)/60 = 3/ 60

When simplified , we get the answer as 1/20

So total time taken by A to do work = 20 days

Hence it is proved that a can do a work in 20 days
