let the work done be lcm(45,40)=360 units
then A does 8 units per day and B does 9 units per day
then b does 23×9=207 unit of remainig work
it means A and B will togather do 153 units of work
one day work of A and B will be 8+9=17 units
both will complete this in 153/17=9 days
hence A works for 9 days
