Solution:

Given,

→ (a + b)³ = 125 – (i)

→ (a - b)³ = 1 – (ii)

To Find: Values of a and b

From equation (i),

→ (a + b) = ∛125

→ a + b = 5 – (iii)

From equation (ii),

→ (a - b) = ∛1

→ a - b = 1 – (iv)

Adding equations (i) and (ii), we get,

→ 2a = 6

→ a = 6/2

→ a = 3

Substituting the value of a in (iii), we get,

→ 3 + b = 5

→ b = 5 - 3

→ b = 2

∆ So, a = 3 and b = 2.

Answer:

  • a = 3.
  • b = 2.
