Given :- The income ratio of A and B is 5: 3, the ratio of expenditure is 6: 5 and the ratio of savings is 2 : 1. If their total savings is 3600 rupees, what is the income of A ?

Answer :-

Let us assume that,

• Income of A is 5x and B is 3x .
• Expenditure of A is 6y and B is 5y .
• Saving of A is 2z and B is z .

given that,

→ Total saving = 3600

→ z + 2z = 3600

→ 3z = 3600

→ z = Rs.1200

so,

→ saving of A = 2z = Rs.2400

→ saving of B = z = Rs.1200

then,

→ Income - Expenditure = Saving .

so,

→ 5x - 6y = 2400 ------ Eqn.(1)

→ 3x - 5y = 1200 ------ Eqn.(2)

multiply Eqn.(1) by 5 and Eqn.(2) by 6 and subtracting Eqn.(1) from Eqn.(2),

→ 6(3x - 5y) - 5(5x - 6y) = 6*1200 - 2400 * 5

→ 18x - 30x - 30y + 30y = 7200 - 12000

→ (-12x) = (-5000)

→ x = (5000/12)

then,

→ Income of A = 5x = (5 * 5000)/12 = (25000/12) = Rs.2083.84 (Ans.)
