====================================

♠ First convert 1.55 dollars into cents -

1.55 dollars
= 1 × 100 + 55
= 100 + 55
= 155 cents.

♠ Now, let the number of 2 cents coins be x.

• It is given that 2 cents and 5 cents coins are 40 in total.

→→→ Number of 5 cents coin = 40 - x.

♠ Now, their total value is 155

=>>> 2(x) + 5(40 - x) = 155

=> 2x + 200 - 5x = 155

=> 200 - 155 = 5x - 2x

=> 45 = 3x

=> 45/3 = x

=> 15 = x

=> x = 15.

♥ Therefore, number of 2 cents coin = x = 15

♥ And, number of 5 cents coin = 40 - x = 40 - 15 = 25.

Thank you..
