A bag contains 5 red balls and some blue balls,
(1)= if the probability of drawing a blue ball from the bag is twice that of a red boll find the number of a blue ball in the bag.
(2)=if probability of drawing a blue ball from the bag is four times that of a red ball find the no. Of blue balls in the bag.

(i)blue ball=10

(ii)blue ball=20

Step-by-step explanation:

let no. of red ball is x and no. of blue ball is 5 given in the question

so, total balls in bag is x+5

FIRST CASE

P(getting red ball)= 5/(x+5)

P(getting blue ball)= x/(x+5)

A/q , P(getting blue ball)=2{P(getting red ball)

x/(x+5)=2{5/(x+5)}

x/(x+5)=10/(x+5)

Multiplying LHS and RHS by (x+5),we get

x= 10

So, no. of blue ball is 10

SECOND CASE

P(getting red ball)= 5/(x+5)

P(getting blue ball)= x/(x+5)

A/q, P(getting blue ball)= 4{P(getting red ball)

x/(x+5)=4{5/(x+5)}

x/(x+5)=20/(x + 5)

Multiplying LHS and RHS by (x+5),we get

x=20

So, no. of blue ball is 20
