Given :- A bag contains 600 pens of brand A and 1200 pens of brand B. If 12% of brand A pens and 25% of brand B pens are removed, then what is the approximate percentage of total pens removed from the bag ?

A) 37%

B) 36%

C) %

D) 18%

Answer :-

→ Total pens in bag A = 600

→ Removed pen from A = 12%

so,

→ Removed number of pen = 12% of 600 = (12 * 600)/100 = 72 pens .

and,

→ Total pens in bag A = 1200

→ Removed pen from A = 25%

so,

→ Removed number of pen = 25% of 1200 = (25 * 1200)/100 = 300 pens .

then,

→ Total pens in bag A and bag B = 600 + 1200 = 1800

and,

→ Total removed pens = 72 + 300 = 372 pens .

therefore,

→ % of total pens removed = (372 * 100) / 1800 = 372/18 ≈ 21% (Ans.)
