SOLUTION

n(S)= 13C2= 78

n(E) =5C2 = 10

Therefore,

P(E)= n(E)/n(S)

=) 10/78

=) 5/39

Thus, Probability = 5/39

hope it helps ☺️

Answer:

The probability that both are white is 5/39.

Step-by-step explanation:

Number of red balls=8

Number of white balls=5

Total number of balls=8+5=13

Let S be the event of drawing 2 balls from 13 balls. n(S)=¹³C₂

Let E be the event of drawing 2 white balls from 5 white balls. n(E)=⁵C₂

∴P(E)=¹³C₂/⁵C₂

=5*4/13*12

=5/39

Therefore, the probability that both are white is 5/39.
